| Some basic points to note about JAE: |
| |
1. |
How many choices does a JAE applicant have? |
An applicant is allowed to make a maximum of 12 choices for JAE. |
2. |
What aggregate do I look at for polytechnic admission? |
There are different types of aggregate. For polytechnic admission, look at the ELR2B2 aggregate.
| ELR2B2 stands for: |
| • |
E(nglish)L(anguage) |
| • |
Relevant subject 1 (i.e. Maths A or E) |
| • |
Relevant subject 2*, and |
| • |
2 other Best subjects |
ELR2B2–T: for Technology courses
ELR2B2–B: for Business-related courses
ELR2B2–HS: for Health Science courses
ELR2B2-AR: for Architectural Technology courses
* This depends on the course. You may refer to the table in the MOE JAE booklet which will be given to you when you receive your GCE ‘O’ level results.

3. |
What are the considerations when making choices? |
• |
Applicants who indicate NYP’s Diploma in Nursing or NP’s Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing) as their first choice course will be given priority consideration if their aggregate meets the pre-determined cut-off point for the year. (This cut-off point has been 28 so far; subject to revision.) |
• |
It may not be wise to choose from only one category of courses, say only Business-related courses or only IT courses, as entry requirements may be very similar. If you do not fulfil a certain entry requirement, you may end up being ineligible for all chosen courses.

4. |
How is posting done? |
• |
First, the computer ranks all applicants according to their net aggregates. |
• |
Next, each applicant will be considered for his/her choice of courses according to the order of preference that the applicant has indicated, subject to available vacancies in the course |
No. Posting depends on both the examination results of applicants and the number of vacancies in the course. If your friend has a better aggregate than you, he will stand a better chance of getting Course A, subject to available vacancies.
So study hard and aim to get good results to increase your chances of getting the course you want! |
